🛡️ Family Privacy Guarantee (Zero Server Rendering & 100% On-Device Storage)
At GoShareTheJourney®, we believe that your baby’s milestones, ultrasound scans, first words, family photos, and lineage records are sacred and strictly private. Roots & Rings operates entirely on-device with zero server rendering and zero cloud databases. All milestone scrapbooks, 3D page curl animations, high-resolution PDF photobooks, and local Wi-Fi sharing transfers are processed and saved directly inside the Roots & Rings app on your device. We do not collect, upload, transmit, profile, share, or sell your family’s photos, audio recordings, or milestone data under any circumstances.

2. 100% Local On-Device Processing & Zero Server Rendering
Roots & Rings is architected with strict, uncompromised on-device privacy principles:
- Zero Server Rendering: We do not utilize cloud computing pipelines or remote server rendering. All 3D page curl shaders (OpenGL/GLSL), interactive infinite canvas layouts, vector PDF scrapbook compilations, ghost camera onion-skin alignment processing, and milestone timeline calculations are rendered 100% locally by your phone's GPU and CPU.
- 100% Saved on the App: All baby photos, pregnancy ultrasound images, belly bump progression photos, audio notes (first words, laughter), family tree records, and custom scrapbooks are stored exclusively in your device's private application sandbox and local SQLite database. They are never uploaded or synced to remote servers.
- No Cloud Databases or Remote Backends: We do not operate remote server databases to store or back up your child's data. Your family archives exist solely on your physical device unless you explicitly export or share them via your operating system's native share sheet.
- No Account or Registration Required: You do not need to provide an email, phone number, social media account, or password to use Roots & Rings.
3. Information We Do Not Collect or Process Remotely
We maintain an absolute zero-collection policy for your family:
- We do not collect child names, birth weights, birth dates, or gestational timelines.
- We do not scan, analyze, or upload your baby's photo library or ultrasound scans.
- We do not run facial recognition, biometrics, or AI emotion-scanning on children or family members.
- We do not upload voice recordings, first words, crying logs, or family audio clips.
- We do not track physical location coordinates or GPS paths.
- We do not sell, rent, monetize, or disclose family data to any advertising network, broker, or third party.
4. Device Permissions & Purpose of Use
To enable creative memory-keeping features, Roots & Rings requests standard operating system permissions:
A. Camera & Photo Gallery Access
Purpose: Allows you to capture milestone photos, overlay ghost silhouette guides for belly bump and baby growth timelapses, and select photos from your gallery for scrapbook pages.
Handling: All camera captures and imported photos remain stored strictly on your local device.
B. Microphone Access (Voice Notes & Audio Memories)
Purpose: Allows parents and family members to record audio clips (e.g., baby’s first giggles, first words, bedtime lullabies, or voice memories attached to family tree nodes).
Handling: Audio recordings are saved exclusively in your device's private sandbox folder. No voice data is ever analyzed by voice recognition or transmitted off your device.
C. Storage / Photo Library Save Permission
Purpose: Required to write generated printable high-resolution PDF photobooks, milestone cards, or exported video memories directly to your device's storage.
D. Local Network & Wi-Fi Peer-to-Peer Permissions
Purpose: Allows direct peer-to-peer transmission of family trees, scrapbooks, and photo flow canvases between family members' devices connected to the same local Wi-Fi network.
Handling: All transfers require an ephemeral 4-digit PIN generated on the receiving device. Data is transferred strictly point-to-point over your local area network without passing through external cloud servers, intermediaries, or the public internet.
5. Children’s Privacy Protection (COPPA, GDPR-K, CalOPPA)
Protecting the privacy of young children is paramount. Because Roots & Rings operates entirely client-side without remote accounts or server storage:
- Zero Child Data Transmission: We comply with the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), European General Data Protection Regulation for Children (GDPR-K), and global child privacy regulations by completely avoiding the remote collection of child personal information.
- Parental Sovereignty: Parents and legal guardians maintain total, autonomous ownership and custody of all information entered into the application.
6. No Third-Party Ad Networks or Telemetry
Roots & Rings contains zero commercial advertising SDKs, zero cross-app tracking beacons (no Apple IDFA or Google GAID tracking), and zero behavioral user-profiling analytics. We do not monetize through attention-harvesting or data brokerage.
7. Data Retention, Backup, & Instant Deletion
Because all memory records exist solely on your physical device:
- In-App Deletion: You can delete any individual memory, audio note, photo, or family tree profile directly within the app.
- Complete Purge: Clearing the app storage in your device settings or uninstalling the app immediately and permanently erases all local database records and media files.
- Export: You can export photobooks and media archives anytime into standard open formats for physical printing or personal offline backup.
8. Store Purchases & Payment Security
If you purchase premium creative packs or one-time feature unlocks, transactions are handled exclusively by Apple Inc. (Apple App Store) or Google LLC (Google Play Store). We do not collect or possess access to your credit card or financial billing details.
9. Policy Updates & Direct Inquiries
We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect app updates or evolving legal requirements. Revisions will be published on this page with an updated Effective Date.
